School Safety
It is the responsibility of the entire school community to foster a safe environment which promotes positive relationships that value intellectual, emotional, social and physical development for all everyone. Our staff is trained and prepared to educate students to be responsible and safe at school.
Student Conduct Policies
Our goal is to maintain a safe environment that fosters student learning. Policies are in place to help us respond to and correct disruptive or dangerous behaviors. If you have concerns about your student, please contact your child's counselor or the main office.
Emergency Situations
In the event of an emergency, the staff is trained to follow a standard response protocol for a variety of situations. All schools are required to perform safety drills each month. Please make sure that your student's emergency contact information is updated each year.
Student Traffic Safety
Student drivers and bicyclists must follow the CVHS traffic safety guidelines. Please drive carefully and make sure to follow all traffic laws.
- Privileges to park in the student parking lot may be revoked at any time
- Student vehicles on campus may be searched at any time if there is cause for suspicion
- No skateboards
Parking & Speed Guidelines
- The back lot is designated for staff parking only
- The small lot in front of the school is for staff and visitor parking only
- Student parking is limited to the front lot in front of the gym and along Raider Way
- Speed limits are 10 mph in the parking lot and 20 mph on Raider Way
- Only 1 student per safety belt/harness
- Students are NOT allowed to ride in bed of a truck

- CV School Zone: 20 mph is in effect 7:30am – 3:30pm

- Raider Way stop sign turning onto Highland Drive
- Stadium parking lot exit onto Highland Drive
Bicycle Safety
- Student bicyclists under the age of 16 must wear a bike helmet
- Student bicycles should be parked in the designated parking area and locked
Student Searches
District officials reserve the right to search a student, his/her personal property, and property assigned by the district for the student’s use at any time while the student is under the jurisdiction of the school. Such searches will be conducted only when there is reasonable suspicion or evidence of a violation of a law, board policy, administrative regulation, or the Student Code of Conduct.
Searches will take into consideration the age, sex, maturity of the student, and nature of the infraction. District officials may also perform searches when they have reasonable information that emergency or dangerous circumstances exist. District-owned storage areas assigned for student use, such as lockers and desks, may be routinely inspected at any time. Students will be notified that searches of district property have occurred and will be notified of any items seized as appropriate.
When possible and practical, the student will be present when a search of personal possessions is conducted. Items found which are evidence of a violation of law, policy, regulation, or school rule may be seized and may be turned over to law enforcement or returned to the rightful owner, as appropriate.
Report a Bias Incident
A bias incident is a person’s hostile expression toward another person, relating to the other person’s perceived race, color, religion, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin. Bias incidents may include derogatory language or behavior. Reporting bias and symbols of hate allows school staff to formally address Bias Incidents and provides important information about bias and hate so that we can improve the culture of our district and school communities.
