Band

CVHS band programs help students develop performance skills including technique and posture. Three bands are available for students. Concert Band is for students who are just entering high school, Symphonic Band is open to students in grades 10-12, and Wind Ensemble is open to students in grades 10-12 through an audition process. All band courses are 2 semesters and students are graded by level of proficiency, coursework, and required performances.

Pep Band is an additional course that is available to students enrolled in one of the other band courses already. The Pep Band provides entertainment and support through musical performance at selected boys and girls varsity basketball games on site. It is a half semester and does not count towards the 7 credit maximum. All band classes will have concerts throughout the school year and attendance will count towards the student’s grade.

Choir

CV’s choir claimed the title of 2009 State Champions by winning the OSAA State Choir Championship. Choir courses at CV teach students important vocal techniques such as intonation and tone quality while helping them learn to sight-read sheet music. The Choir courses offered at CV include Coro Vivo and Women’s A Cappella Group for women, Men’s Choir for men, and Concert Choir for both. All Choir courses last 2 semesters and are graded on level of proficiency, coursework, and required performances.

Orchestra

The Camerata Orchestra, which is a combination of the Corvallis and Crescent Valley High Schools, has won the OSAA State Orchestra Championship in 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016. This ensemble has also won the Mt. Hood Symphony Festival in 1989, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2002, and 2011, showing a record of excellence in the Camerata Orchestra class.

Our orchestra program helps students advance their knowledge in the areas of technique, music theory, leadership, and sight-reading. Concertato Orchestra is offered to students just entering high school and Sinfonietta is for grades 9-12 students that want to advance their musical knowledge. Camerata Orchestra is for advanced students only. Orchestra is 2 semesters and students are graded based on level of proficiency, coursework, and required performances.

Theater

Theater is a combined program for CVHS and CHS students. Students perform in plays, musicals, and events at local theaters and schools including locations such as the CHS Theatre, Majestic Theater, and Linn Benton Community College. Our theater courses teach students skills in performing using acting exercises. Introduction to Theatre is offered to students who have no previous experience, while Intermediate Theatre is for those who have already taken Introduction to Theatre. Advanced Theatre either requires the student to have completed Intermediate Theatre or to have instructor permission. All Theatre courses last 1 semester.
