Research Opportunity – USDA Summer Research Assistant (paid): You would conduct experiments in the lab and field, including collecting live or dead insect and plant samples, sorting insects and plant material in the laboratory, and frequently use a microscope, among other duties. You must have a valid driver’s license, be 16 years or older, and be able to walk 1 mile on uneven terrain, lift/carry 40 lbs., and kneel or squat for setting up ground experiments. Sophomores - RYLA: Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, in District 5110, is a 5½ day residential leadership camp that brings 144 high school sophomores together to explore team dynamics and enhance personal leadership skills. It’s designed for high-performing students who have been recommended by teachers and counselors as demonstrated or potential leaders in their schools and communities. RYLA follows a carefully-designed curriculum created by professional educators – every activity is designed to challenge and teach. Rotary clubs pay all costs of camp – there is no cost to campers or families. Application & information is available in the Career Center. New! PNACAC College Fair: Come to a college fair at University of Portland on Sunday, April 30. Over 130 colleges and universities will have representatives in attendance. Come talk to reps one-on-one and learn more about the schools you are interested in. The fair will be held from 12:00-3:00PM at University of Portland’s Chiles Center (white-topped athletic dome): 5000 N. Willamette Blvd., Portland, OR 97203. This event is free and open to the public. Park in our main parking lot (free of charge). As you enter campus through our main entrance off Willamette Blvd., proceed about 30 yards and take your first right. To save time at the fair, get a barcode of your contact information beforehand.  This way, you can spend your time talking to the college reps, instead of filling out information cards. Corvallis Public Schools Foundation - Zach Peters Scholarship: $1,000. The Performing Arts Scholarship, established in 2016, is in honor and memory of Zach Peters.
